Legendary rapper Ice-T overcame the lost of his parents at an early age to become one of the most successful hip-hop artists of all-time.
Setback: The “Colors” rapper lost both of his parents as a child. Ice-T (born Tracy Morrow) lost his mother in the third grade and his father in the seventh. They both died of heart failure. Ice-T moved to Los Angeles with his aunt and began hustling and stealing in the streets. He became a true gangbanger.
Comeback: In high school, Ice-T slowed down his criminal behavior and started making rap music instead. Rather than live the gangsta lifestyle, he started making music about it. The famed “New Jack City” and “Law & Order: SVU” actor went on to become one of the most important and successful rappers ever. The two-time Grammy Award winner is married to swimsuit model Nicole “CoCo” Austin.
